What does this product come with?

Each box of Botox Cosmetic comes with 1 glass vial prefilled with 100 units of sterilized botulinum toxin type A (onabotulinumtoxinA) powder and a product pamphlet.

What are the benefits of this product?

Botox Cosmetic is a renowned brand of botulinum toxin medication that is designed specially to soften the appearance of facial lines. The neurotoxin is formulated to contain the therapeutic dose to successfully relax muscles and smooth wrinkles and lines. It has been used worldwide for decades and has a high safety profile.

What is this product made of?

The toxin is extracted via dialysis from fermented Clostridium botulinum type A and purified through a series of acid precipitations. It also contains the excipients human serum albumin and sodium chloride.

How does this work to help my patients?

As the name suggests, Botox Cosmetic is indicated for the aesthetic improvements of moderate to severe forehead lines, lateral canthal lines, and glabellar lines caused by the movements of muscles. Once injected intramuscularly, the toxin blocks the release and transmission of acetylcholine, which is responsible for muscle activity. The reduced movement of the muscle keeps the skin smooth and youthful looking.

How do I use this product?

This medicine should only be handled by a certified medical practitioner who is highly experienced. Thoroughly assess your patient’s medical information (e.g. underlying health conditions, history of allergy attacks, history of aesthetic procedures done, drugs and/or supplements taken, etc.) to ensure that they are suitable for treatment with botulinum toxin injections. Next, conduct an extensive facial assessment to determine the severity of aesthetic issues and the adequate correction needed. The initial consultation session is also important for you to discuss possible side effects that they could experience and the necessary remedial actions that they should take. Once they are deemed ready for the procedure, prepare the botulinum toxin solution by reconstituting the toxin powder with sterile, preservative-free saline solution (9mg/ml sodium chloride solution). Administer the prepared toxin solution via intramuscular injections into the areas needing correction. Read the accompanying package insert for more information on the proper injection methods and injection doses. Following adequate correction, deactivate any remaining toxin solution with dilute hypochlorite solution for 5 minutes prior to their disposal. Your patients can receive maintenance injections once the initial effects disappear to maintain their youthful looks.

How long will the treatment take?

A complete treatment session could last about 20 to 30 minutes depending on the amount of cosmetic corrections needed.

What can I use it for?

Botox Cosmetic is only intended for the temporary treatment of dynamic wrinkles, such as forehead lines, lateral canthal lines, and glabellar lines. This injectable, under the name Botox, is also used to reduce the symptoms of medical conditions such as chronic migraines and cervical dystonia.

What areas should I use this product on?

Inject this medicine intramuscularly into the following areas to treat the following facial lines:

  • Forehead lines: Inject 20 units of the reconstituted solution into the corrugator and procerus muscles.
  • Lateral canthal lines: Inject 24 units of the reconstituted solution into the lateral orbicularis oculi muscle.
  • Glabellar lines: Inject 20 units of the reconstituted solution into the frontalis muscle.
