Product Information

What does this product come with?

Each pack of Euflexxa comes with 3 pre-filled syringes, each containing 2 mL of the medication. The approved dosing regimen for treating osteoarthritis is 1 injection at weekly intervals for 3 weeks. Do not use the product if the blister package is damaged.

What are the benefits of this product?

Euflexxa orthopedic injections have been scientifically studied to be effective in temporarily relieving knee pain among patients suffering from osteoarthritis. It improves the quality of synovial fluid in the knee joint by replenishing the diminishing hyaluronic acid. Aside from that, it also enhances the body’s capacity to produce hyaluronic acid, therefore increasing the beneficial effects of this medication.

What is this product made of?

Euflexxa contains sodium hyaluronate or hyaluronic acid (HA) as an active ingredient. Its HA is extracted from bacterial cells cultured in a highly controlled environment. Additional ingredients include sodium chloride, disodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, and water for injection.

How does this work to help my patients?

Hyaluronic acid is a highly viscous substance that lubricates and cushions the joints from damage and reduces friction between the bones while in motion. A person with osteoarthritis have low levels of HA in the affected joint, making the knee prone to degradation and severe pain. Euflexxa replenishes the lost HA in the knee, while stimulating the body to increase its production of natural hyaluronic acid.

Use Instructions

How do I use this product?

Euflexxa is injected intra-articularly into the synovial capsule of the knee using aseptic injection techniques. Inject the full contents (2ml) of the syringe into 1 knee. If you are treating both knees, use another syringe from the blister pack. 1 treatment session consists of 3 injections at weekly intervals for 3 weeks. Complete 1 cycle of 3 injections, even if your patients have already experience pain relief after the first injection. Repeated treatment sessions for Euflexxa have been established as safe for up to 1 year.

How long will the treatment take?

The whole procedure may last between 15–30 minutes. Euflexxa injections can be administered in your office, rather than in the hospital. There is no downtime after the procedure, and your patients can go home immediately after injection. To reduce potential side effects, advise your patients to avoid strenuous activities for 48 hours after injection.

What can I use it for?

Most doctors use Euflexxa to help their patients suffering from pain, stiffness, and inflammation caused by osteoarthritis. This medical device contains sodium hyaluronate, a substance normally found in healthy joints of the body.

What areas should I use this product on?

Euflexxa is injected directly into the knee joint or other joints in the body that are affected by osteoarthritis. You should not administer this treatment if an infection is present in the knee or the skin around the knee. Other possible injection sites include the hips, elbows, shoulders, and ankles.

How long do the results last?

Your patients may experience varying results with Euflexxa treatment. Pain relief is expected to last up to 6 months. Advise your patients to come back after 3 months so you can assess if they will benefit from repeat injections.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I use this product?

Osteoarthritis is a progressive and debilitating condition that affects millions of individuals around the world. It causes chronic joint pain due to the deterioration of the articular cartilage or the whole joint. There is currently no cure for this disease. The available treatment options focus on managing pain and helping patients keep an active lifestyle, despite their condition. Patients who do not respond to any of the available treatment modalities may undergo surgical removal of loose bones and cartilage, or partial/total knee replacement. Giving Euflexxa injections to your patients provides pain relief, reduction of other symptoms associated with osteoarthritis, and delays or prevents the need for surgery.

Who is this product intended for?

Euflexxa is intended for patients who have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis, and are exhibiting knee pain that worsens when they are active, swelling around the joint, and stiffness. Euflexxa usually given when other treatment options, such as pain relievers, exercise, therapy, and lifestyle changes, have failed to provide pain relief. Patients who are looking for an alternative treatment to surgery that is non-invasive and cost-effective will benefit from Euflexxa injections.

What are the side effects?

Your patients may experience side effects related to local reactions at the injection site. These include warmth, redness, bruising, effusion, and tenderness at the site of injection. These often resolve within a week of tratment. You can find the complete list of side effects, contraindications, and precautions on the product leaflet.
