0.5ml of the medication for injection is supplied in a 3ml cartridge that is made of Type 1 glass that is sealed with a halobutyl rubber plunger stopper and an aluminum crimp cap with a black rubber inlay. Each box of Gonal-F 300U comes with one pen with a 3ml prefilled cartridge, eight sterile and disposable needles to be used with the pen for administration, and an instruction manual.
Gonal-F 300U is a gonadotropin-based medication that contains follitropin alfa, a potent and completely synthetic equivalent to Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) that helps to promote fertility in both females and males affected with infertility. This prescription-only medication is approved for use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and as a result, can be used as part of assisted reproductive technologies (ART) to increase the chances of pregnancy.
Gonal-F 300U contains 0.5ml of a clear and colorless solution for injection. Each ml of the medication contains 600 IU of follitropin alfa, which is equivalent to 44 micrograms of the active ingredient. Follitropin alfa, which is identical to naturally-occurring FSH, is manufactured via recombinant DNA technology using Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells. The solution for injection is also made of the following excipients: Poloxamer 188, sucrose, methionine, sodium dihydrogen phosphate monohydrate, disodium phosphate dihydrate, m-Cresol, concentrated phosphoric acid, sodium hydroxide, and water for injections. Ensure that patients are not allergic to any of the components present in this drug prior to administration.
Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) is produced by the pituitary gland and plays an important role in reproduction, as it stimulates the growth of ovarian follicles in the ovary before an ovum can be released from the follicle during ovulation after signaling from the Luteinizing Hormone (LH). In males, FSH stimulates testicular growth and the development and maturing of sperm cells. Inadequate production of these gonadotropins can lead to infertility problems in both female and male patients. Follitropin alfa, which is the synthetic equivalent to FSH, is derived via recombinant DNA technology to help stimulate the healthy development of follicles and the growth of sperm cells in female and male patients respectively. Follitropin alfa’s effects results in higher chances for successful pregnancy.
Gonal-F 300U is intended to be administered via subcutaneous injections for several times until the desired response is achieved. Since patients require repeat injection, they should get their first injection performed by certified healthcare practitioners. Patients can self-administer the subsequent injections, provided they have immediate access to medical support. The exact dosage differs on the basis of the type of fertility problem that is diagnosed. Nevertheless, the administration of Gonal-F 300U can only be performed once a patient’s medical history has been thoroughly evaluated.
The injection process may be completed within minutes. In fact, you may spend more time assessing and consulting a patient.
Gonal-F 300U is indicated for the following patients:
Gonal-F 300U must be injected subcutaneously. It usually in the thighs, arms, or abdomen.
Following subcutaneous administration of Gonal-F 300U, the absolute bioavailability of follitropin alfa is 70%. Repeated administration results in the threefold accumulation of follitropin alfa, which achieves a steady-state within three to four days. However, the time taken for this medication to affect the gonads depends on the severity of the fertility disorder being treated.
You should offer this medication because it is made of completely synthetic and highly pure follitropin alfa, which is able to mimic the actions of FSH in order to promote fertility. You should also order this medication because it is very safe, as seen in its FDA approval, which this product gained following in-depth clinical trials. Gonal-F 300U can help your patients increase their chances of having a successful pregnancy.
Gonal-F 300U is indicated for female patients who are diagnosed with fertility problems such as anovulation and PCOS and/or undergoing ART procedures, such as IVF. Male patients with infertility issues caused by inborn or acquired hypogonadotropic hypogonadism can also be prescribed with this follicle stimulating medication.
