Juvederm helped woman with nasolabial folds

Juvederm for nasolabial folds is one of the most popular treatments

Nasolabial folds are the lines that appear in the face from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth. Everybody has nasolabial folds, though they are more prominent on some than others and become permanent as people age. Nasolabial folds appear when smiling, but when people are young and their skin is healthy, they appear only temporary during that facial movement. Genetics does play some role in the development of nasolabial folds, but the aging process is also a huge factor in their appearance. Nasolabial folds develop as the skin ages and the central part of the face loses volume as soft-tissue diminishes, while at the same time fat pads from lateral areas of the face decrease and relocate lower down in the face due to the loss of elasticity in the dermis and changes to the adipose tissue.

Juvederm is a brand of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers manufactured by Allergan. It is indicated for the correction of facial wrinkles and folds, including nasolabial folds. Juvederm products are known for the smooth consistency of their clear gel that is achieved through developing the gel using Hyalacross Technology. It is Juvederm products specialize in adding volume to the skin and face, and has many different products than can address specific areas. It is very popular in the United States.

How does Juvederm help getting rid of nasolabial folds?

Juvederm works to correct nasolabial folds by restoring volume and hydration to the skin in the nasolabial and cheek area. Hyaluronic acid, the primary ingredient in Juvederm products, binds with water once injected, thereby plumping up the skin and acting as a cushioning agent in the area of injection. There are two approaches to helping diminish the appearance of nasolabial folds with Juvederm injections: target lost volume, or the folds themselves. When more elevated lateral face steps down to the less elevated medial face, a dark line is created that is very common in patients with nasolabial folds. Reducing these steps with Juvederm will help reduce the appearance of this shadowed line, thus improving the appearance of the nasolabial fold. To address this issue, a bolus injection or linear injection technique is best. However, be careful to never inject the filler above or lateral to the lines. Folds in the skin are caused by the overhanging of the nasolabial, and not everyone who shows lines in the nasolabial area will necessarily have prominent folds. However, to treat a patient with these folds, it is best to use a cross-hatching injection technique. These injections should generally go a bit deeper into the dermis than the other injection techniques used.

Juvederm nasolabial folds how long does it last?

As hyaluronic acid is a naturally-occurring substance, it is metabolized by the body over time, making the effects of treatment temporary. The longevity of results will vary by patient and will depend on a number of factors, including the age and lifestyle of patient, as well as the area of injection, the required correction, and the injection technique used. However, Juvederm products last, on average, 9 months to a year, with some lasting up to 2 years. Clinical studies have shown that the majority of participants (84 to 88%) preferred the results of Juvederm over other nasolabial filler treatment after 24 weeks, with 76 to 79% of participants opting for touch up treatments, as they were so pleased with the results. Juvederm is very popular because it provides subtle, natural-looking results that appear instantly upon injection. Patients may also receive touch up treatments in order to maintain results for longer. There are some mild side effects associated with Juvederm treatment, including swelling, tenderness, redness, pain, and itching at the injection site. These reactions, should they occur, are usually mild and will resolved themselves without intervention within 14 days at the most.
