Also known as Radiance FN, is an injectable dermal filler. The gel contains: sodiumcarboxymethylcellulose, glycerin, and water that compose about seventy percent of the product's volume. The other thirty percent is the active ingredient, synthetic calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres which are made of calcium and phosphate ions, similar to those that occur naturally in human tissue.
Wrinkles and volume loss can occur with illness or as the skin ages and loses hyaluronic acid, fat, and collagen. When you inject this filler into the skin tissue, the gel restores volume to reduce the look of wrinkles and adds volume to the face. It continues to add volume to skin tissue over the next few months after application. The calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres, which are smooth and spherical, form a sort of scaffold for collagen to grow. As the gel carrier dissolves and the calcium hydroxylapatite particles break down, the collagen is left in place. This helps hold the skin's shape, giving strength and volume to the skin to smooth the look of wrinkles and fill out hollow areas for a more youthful appearance.
Doctors have been using RADIESSE® fillers to correct wrinkles for more than a decade, using it in more than five million injections.
This filler can add volume to the skin to correct wrinkles and creases like nasolabial folds between the nose and mouth, radial lip lines above the upper lip, marionette lines or smile lines at the corners of the mouth, acne scars and other blemishes or skin depressions. You can use it to add volume to shallow cheeks that are caused by facial fat loss, to contour the jaw and other areas of the face, to correct unevenness on the chin and nose, and to restore volume to hands, making veins and bones less visible. Whether your patient has lost volume in their skin tissue from aging or from illness, it can help restore volume.
Common side effects include bruising, redness, pain, itching, and swelling at the injection site. More rare side effects of it injections could include prolonged swelling, an infection, or firmness near where you injected it. Most side effects resolve within a week or two. Contraindications include use on women who are pregnant or lactating, patients with an existing infection in the area, and patients who have permanent injectable implants in the area you are treating. This product biocompatible, so it should not cause an allergic reaction, and it does not contain ingredients from animal or human sources. it is resorbable, leaving behind only your patient's own natural collagen.
When you inject it into your patient's skin tissue, the dermal filler gel instantly restores some volume to the skin tissue, making wrinkles less noticeable. However, it continues to improve the skin as the calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres stimulate collagen growth. Most patients will enjoy long-lasting results from their injections for up to about two years.
