Etermis is a German brand of cosmetic dermal fillers containing monophasic, cohesive hyaluronic acid and mannitol. The product range is designed to remove moderate to deep wrinkles and folds, increase lip volume, and correct other signs of aging. As well, it can target more delicate areas, including the lips, to correct fine lines and wrinkles. There are three Etermis products currently available in the market—each contains different concentrations of hyaluronic acid and targets specific problem areas in the face.
Patients, over 21 years old, who are suffering from age-related facial skin problems can benefit from Etermis dermal fillers. Hyaluronic acid is approved by the FDA to be injected into mid-to-deep dermis to correct moderate to severe wrinkles and folds. Those looking to rejuvenate the skin, and reduce signs of aging are great candidates for Etermis fillers.
As well, younger patients without signs of aging can still benefit from the Etermis filler range if they wish to have their lips enhanced or maintain youthful looking skin. Etermis is also indicated for fine or shallow lines and the delicate skin near the mouth.
Although reactions to hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are rare, it should not be given to patients with a history of multiple allergies, especially those who are allergic to bacterial proteins and lidocaine.
There are three types of Etermis products formulated to address various skin concerns.
The active ingredient of Etermis, hyaluronic acid, is an important component of the skin and joints. It is the one responsible in making the skin supple, smooth, and youthful-looking. As people age, the production of hyaluronic acid in the body decreases, leaving the skin dry, stiff, and prone to wrinkles. Injection of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers in the dermis is proven to be effective in smoothing fine, moderate, and severe wrinkles in different areas of the face.
The addition of mannitol also helps preserve the viscoelastic properties of hyaluronic acid, so that it will not be easily degraded in the body. As well, because it is an antioxidant, it also fights free radicals to protect the skin from damage.
Thoroughly disinfect the treatment site prior to injection. Slowly inject the gel filler into the mid to deep dermis at a 30° to 35° angle from the surface of the skin. The amount used depends on the area to be treated and the severity of the condition. Gently massage the area to distribute the product evenly. The maximum amount of reticulated hyaluronic acid that is recommended for each patient per year is 20ml. Do not overcorrect.
The efficacy of Etermis products may last for up to a year, but it depends on the patient’s age, skin quality, lifestyle, treatment area, and other factors. Your patients may seek repeat treatments to maintain the effects of their treatment.
Etermis dermal fillers have an excellent safety profile, and are well-tolerated in most patients. As well, there is a low risk of side effects when using this filler.
These cosmetic fillers are not recommended for patients who are taking anticoagulants medications, NSAIDs, or immunomodulators. Children, adolescents, pregnant and nursing women should not receive this treatment. Do not inject Etermis products into tendons, muscles, bones, or breast area.
Patients may experience the following side effects after the treatment:
Patients can resume daily activities immediately, but must avoid engaging in strenuous exercises within 24 hours after injection. Limit sun exposure, exposure to extreme temperatures, and alcoholic beverage intake. Advise your patient to contact you if side effects last for more than a week.
Etermis dermal fillers offer a non-surgical and cost effective approach in correcting the different signs of aging. Etermis product range from $550 and up; however, the price of a treatment with Etermis is determined by you.
