FILLMED® LIGHT PEEL is formulated with a 20% peel complex, which is comprised of gluconolactone and mandelic acid. It should be used with the Fillmed Pre-Peel solution, which contains gluconolactone, as well as Fillmed’s post-peel solution, which is made of pure sodium bicarbonate.

The main ingredient of this chemical peel is mandelic acid—a gentle alpha hydroxy acid derived from bitter almonds. It works by penetrating deep into the skin and breaking down dull, hyper-pigmented, and sun damaged cells. The molecular weight and size of mandelic acid is larger than other AHAs used in a peel, thus it takes more time for it to penetrate the skin surface. However, it is also less irritating. It is powerful enough to remove uneven skin patches and blackheads, treat cystic acne, and repair photo-aged skin.

Clean and prime your patient’s skin using the Pre-Peel solution to remove impurities and balance the skin’s pH. Apply the peel solution uniformly on the skin using the integrated brush. Because it takes longer for mandelic acid to penetrate the skin, your patients will not immediately feel the usual stinging or warm feeling associated with chemical peels. After 3 minutes, apply the Post-Peel solution, then rinse and neutralize the acid using a cotton pad soaked in water.

The whole process my take up to 30 minutes, including priming and neutralization. Light Peel is better tolerated by people with sensitive skin, and is mild enough for pregnant and breastfeeding women. What’s more, unlike other peeler solutions, this skin-friendly chemical peel does not cause photosensitivity. However, you still need to instruct your patients to avoid prolonged sun exposure and wear sunscreen after undergoing this treatment.

This treatment works for individuals with dry, sensitive, normal, oily, or combination skin. Though its therapeutic benefits are optimized for sensitive skin, it works just like any chemical peel for all skin types. It is also an excellent initial peel for first time users.
