OZEMPIC® 0.5mg (Japanese) is a once-weekly injectable medication containing semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist indicated for adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is used to improve glycemic control and reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events in patients with existing cardiovascular disease. OZEMPIC® mimics the action of human incretin hormones, stimulating insulin secretion and reducing glucagon in a glucose-dependent manner. It also slows gastric emptying, which contributes to its glucose-lowering effects and aids in weight management.

OZEMPIC® 0.5mg (Japanese) is administered via subcutaneous injection once weekly, preferably on the same day each week, with or without food. The typical protocol involves starting with a lower dose before escalating to 0.5mg.

• Start with 0.25 mg once weekly for the first 4 weeks
• Increase to 0.5 mg once weekly starting from week 5
• Administer in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm
• Missed dose: Administer within 5 days, otherwise skip and resume on next scheduled day
• Rotate injection sites weekly within the same region

OZEMPIC® 0.5mg (Japanese) is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes and to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in those with existing heart disease. It is not indicated for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Indications:

• Type 2 diabetes mellitus (glycemic control)
• Cardiovascular risk reduction in type 2 diabetes with established CVD

Contraindications:

• Personal/family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC)
• Patients with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)
• Known hypersensitivity to semaglutide or any excipient

• Diarrhea (8.5%)
• Vomiting (5.0%)
• Abdominal pain, constipation, dyspepsia
• Hypoglycemia (especially with sulfonylureas or insulin)

Each OZEMPIC® 0.5mg (Japanese) dose is a sterile, aqueous solution containing semaglutide and several inactive components that help maintain the stability and safety of the formulation.

  • Propylene glycol – 14.0 mg
  • Phenol – 5.50 mg (preservative)

Each OZEMPIC® 0.5mg (Japanese) pack is designed for single-patient use and includes a pre-filled disposable pen. It delivers precise dosing for weekly injections and is compatible with NovoFine® Plus or NovoTwist® needles (sold separately).

  • 2 mg/3 mL solution (0.68 mg/mL concentration)
• Delivers 0.25 mg and 0.5 mg doses
• Pen is reusable for multiple doses (until empty)
• Needles not included in the pack

Proper storage of OZEMPIC® 0.5mg (Japanese) is critical to maintain its stability and effectiveness. Unused pens should be kept refrigerated, while in-use pens can be stored at room temperature under specific conditions.

• Before first use:
  • Store in refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F)
  • Do not freeze
• After first use:
  • Store at room temperature (≤30°C / 86°F) or refrigerated
  • Discard after 56 days even if not empty
