BOCOUTURE® 50U contains a substance, botulinum toxin A, which is a temporary measure to improve the overall appearance of the skin by smoothing out unwanted wrinkles in patients.Complexing proteins have been removed by an extensive purification process from the botulinum toxin complex. Each package of Bocouture 50U is supplied with a vial pre-filled with 50 units of botulinum toxin type A. The toxin exists as white powder that must be reconstituted with 1.25ml of preservative-free sodium chloride 9mg/ml (0.9%) solution for injection.
This prescription-only muscle-relaxing medicine is created by Merz Aesthetics to solely provide aesthetic improvements for patients who are suffering from moderate to severe facial lines like glabellar lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet. It is purified to be free from complexing proteins and hence, reduces the risk of antibody formation. Most other brands contain bacterial protein which may induce the immune system to generate antibodies and diminish the intended toxin activity. So, Bocouture 50U is able to efficiently block nerve impulses and temporarily paralyze muscles to erase the appearance of wrinkles during facial expressions.
This muscle relaxant is composed of 50 units of Botulinum toxin type A. It is derived from fermentation of Hall strain of Clostridium botulinum bacteria. The excipients in this medicine are human albumin and sucrose.
Botulinum toxin type A works by temporarily blocking the transmission of nerve impulses between the muscles and brain. As a result, treated muscles do not contract and wrinkles appear smooth even when facial expressions occur.
The safety and efficacy of Bocouture 50U depends largely on the careful preparation and administration of solution.
