Each box of Dysport comes with a 3ml glass vial with 500 units or 300 units of botulinum toxin type A. The white powder is vacuum packed in the glass vial and sealed with aluminum seal and rubber stopper. In order to use the toxin powder, you must first reconstitute it with an appropriate quantity of sterile 0.9% sodium chloride.

Dysport contains 500 units or 300 units of botulinum toxin type A, derived from the fermentation of Clostridium botulinum bacteria (Hall strain). It also contains human albumin and lactose as excipients.

Botulinum toxin type A is actually a potent neurotoxin that reduces muscle activity, as it prevents nerve impulses from reaching the injected muscles. The lack of impulse transmissions results in temporary muscle immobility. In terms of aesthetic improvements, wrinkles do not appear as pronounced when facial expressions are made. Health conditions stemming from muscular activity disorder can also be regulated temporarily using Dysport.

This prescription-only medicine should only be administered after a patient’s medical history is thoroughly vetted. On the day of treatment, start by preparing the solution for intramuscular injections. The concentration is altered by the amount of diluent. The reconstituted solution should appear transparent, colorless and free from particles.
