DYSPORT®

If you want to buy DYSPORT® to use in your clinic, contact our sales team for more information. DYSPORT® is a brand of injections based on botulinum toxin type A, produced by the French company IPSEN. Botulinum toxin is a strong muscle relaxant used to treat wrinkles but also focal muscle spasticity in limbs and facial spasms. It is used as an alternative to similar brands such as Botox, but it’s important to note that the dosages are not interchangeable.

What Is DYSPORT® Used For?

DYSPORT® is used for two types of issues: aesthetic and medical.  In aesthetic medicine, it is predominantly used to treat dynamic wrinkles (not static wrinkles from loss of collagen), including
  • Glabellar lines (frown lines between the eyebrows)
  • Lateral canthal lines (crow’s feet)
  • Perioral lines (lip area)
DYSPORT® is used to treat a number of medical issues:
  • Limb spasticity
  • Spasmodic torticollis
  • Blepharospasm or hemifacial spasm

How Long Does DYSPORT® Last?

DYSPORT® effects can last for three to six months, but they wear off after three to four months on average. The results primarily depend on the individual patient, the maturity of their skin, and how they maintain it. DYSPORT® is naturally eliminated from the body, meaning additional treatments may be needed.

DYSPORT® Administration Techniques

DYSPORT® is an intramuscular injection that needs to be dissolved before use, as it is sold in powder form. The dosage will depend on the specific area being treated and the severity of the lines. The exact anatomical area is best identified when the patient smiles as much as possible. It’s important to avoid the zygomaticus major and minor muscles to prevent unwanted effects such as a lateral mouth drop and an asymmetrical smile. DYSPORT® contains human albumin and lactose. It is not recommended for patients who are lactose-intolerant.

DYSPORT® Product Range

DYSPORT® comes in different dosages:
  • DYSPORT® 300u
  • DYSPORT® 500u
  • DYSPORT® 500u 2 vials
The injectable is also available in country-specific packages:
  • DYSPORT® 300u (Czech)
  • DYSPORT® 300u (Slovakian)
  • DYSPORT® 500u (Czech)
  • DYSPORT® 500u (English/Korean)
  • DYSPORT® 500u (Greek)
  • DYSPORT® 500u (Non-English)
  • DYSPORT® 500u (Romanian)
  • DYSPORT® 500u (Slovakian)

DYSPORT® Side Effects

DYSPORT® units are not interchangeable with units of other botulinum toxin products, as they are different in potency and contents (especially lactose). Common DYSPORT® side effects include:
  • General weakness
  • Injection site pain
  • Injection site redness
  • Injection site swelling
  • Bruising
Rare or very rare side effects include:
  • Muscular weakness
  • Flu-like symptoms
  • Dry mouth
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Nasopharyngitis
  • Dysphonia
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Mild dysphagia
It is not recommended for use in pregnant women, as animal data show potential harm to the fetus. Pediatric and geriatric use pose additional concerns. For aesthetic medicine purposes, it should only be used in adults under the age of 65. The Distant Spread of Toxin Effect has been reported. The effect refers to the toxin spreading from the injection site. It might cause issues with breathing, swallowing, general muscle weakness, blurred and double vision, and drooping eyelids. There have been cases of death. The highest occurence rate was noticed when botulinum toxin products have been used to treat pediatric patients, but cases of the effect were noticed among adults as well. The medication should only be used in consultation with a licensed medical professional.

DYSPORT® Contraindications

DYSPORT® should not be used in cases of the following:
  • Hypersensitivity to any of its components
  • Damaged or irritated treatment zone
  • Contraindicated medications
  • Poor health
  • Acute stage of chronic disease
  • Pregnancy or lactation
  • Other cosmetic procedures near the injection site

DYSPORT® vs. Competition

When comparing DYSPORT® to other botulinum toxin preparations, it’s essential to know that their units are not equivalent, so they cannot be applied in the same amounts. It is also important if you want to buy DYSPORT® wholesale, as the number of units per procedure will differ. Here are the main differences between DYSPORT® and its main competitor, BOTOX®:
  • Price and potency – While DYSPORT® is generally cheaper than BOTOX®, its concentration is lower, so it usually takes a higher dosage of DYSPORT® to achieve the same result.
  • Structure and formula – DYSPORT®’s molecules are smaller, and while they penetrate the target area more quickly, DYSPORT® typically requires a higher dosage.
  • Injection technique – Due to the lower concentration and molecule size, DYSPORT® may require a different injection strategy.

Where Can I Buy DYSPORT®?

If you want to buy DYSPORT® online, you should only purchase it from licensed sites. Only medical professionals can purchase and use th product due to the risks that come with its use. For more information on how to acquire the medication, contact our team today.
